Recent Blood Drive was a Success

R&S joined forces with PF Markey and Michigan Blood to help the community through a blood drive. During the drive, 20 people gave blood.

Michigan Blood was founded in 1955. It is an independent, nonprofit blood bank that provides blood for more than 60 hospitals throughout Michigan. Serving Michigan hospitals is the top priority for Michigan Blood, which collects more than 125,000 blood donations each year at nine permanent donation sites and more than 3,600 mobile blood drives statewide.

Related services available from Michigan Blood include a nationally recognized stem cell (marrow) program, therapeutic apheresis, DNA tissue-typing, transfusion medicine consultations, and Michigan’s first public cord blood bank. Michigan Blood is a member of America’s Blood Centers, a network of community blood banks spanning North America that together provide half the US blood supply.

R&S Supports Toys For Tots

At R&S Cutter Grind, the well being of even the youngest members of our community is important to our whole team. That's why for more than a decade, we have been a proud supporter of Toys for Tots. In December, we gave $500 to this worthwhile cause. R&S Manager Alan McNalley praised Toys for Tots for its tradition of spending very little money on administrative costs. Instead, Toys for Tots spends most of its donations to directly benefit children.

R&S offers back-to-school safety tips

We remind all our customers and employees to keep an eye out for school buses as well as kids walking and riding bikes to school. As we get further into fall, it will be dark in the morning when the students are traveling to school.  Earlier this month, R&S Cutter Grind was honored by WILZ/FM for supporting a campaign advertising back-to-school safety. The ads reminded drivers to take extra precautions when the kids are on the road.

R&S proud to support Mission of Hope Cancer Fund

Each year, R&S Cutter Grind donates to the Mission of Hope Cancer Fund, based in Jackson, Mich. The fund provides direct financial assistance to cancer patients and their families. We're proud to help out the families going through cancer diagnosis and treatment. Here is the thank you letter they sent us this year:

"We can't thank you enough for your generosity in support of Mission of Hope Cancer Fund. Whether you purchased a small item or gave a donation, your gift means the world to those who are battling cancer.

Since 1944, the Mission of Hope Cancer Fund has been providing direct monetary assistance to cancer patients throughout Michigan for prescription costs, travel expenses for out-of-town treatment, help in maintaining insurance premiums during treatment, medical bills, medical equipment and supplies, and lodging for out-of-town treatment.

Cancer could affect anyone of us or our families. Once a person is diagnosed with cancer, their world is turned upside down. The world revolves around needles and surgeries, worrying only about what is truly important in life. And what if money has run out to even get them to a cancer clinic for a chemo treatment or given only months to live and needing respite care in their final days of life? This is why Mission of Hope Cancer Fund was started. We cut through the "red tape," to help cancer patients who are desperate for help. There are people desperate for help right now ... and there will be more in the future. Your generosity enables us to continue helping families who come to us for those battling this terrible disease.

Sincerely, Rock Mangus, Cancer Survivor, Founder and Director Mission of Hope Cancer Fund"
